These are commissioned most often alongside a bridal piece, and fitted in the same weeks so the two are seen together on the stand before either is finished.
The brief we are usually given is the same: something that does not read as a costume, and that survives the wedding it was made for. That means a cleaner line, a cloth that presses well, and a hem that can be altered later.
