The date
The day the garment must be worn, not the day you would like to collect it. Bridal commissions open nine months out.

The occasion
Wedding, gala, a daughter’s ceremony, black tie. Where it is held matters as much as what it is called.

Anything fixed
A colour you must wear, a fabric you cannot, a shoe already chosen. If nothing is fixed, say that instead.
