The House

One apprentice at a time.

Two years on the cutting room floor. The next place opens in autumn.

The apprenticeship

How it actually works.

Two years, one person, paid. The first year is the bench — basting, pressing, hems, and a great deal of unpicking. The second is the table, drafting alongside Athina and Niccolò.

We take one at a time because a draft is taught by standing next to someone, and there is one table. It is slow and it is the only method we know that works.

What we look for

And what we do not.

Hands

Show us something you have made and finished. A crooked hem you rolled yourself tells us more than a portfolio of renderings.

Patience

Most of this work is repetition done carefully. If the slow parts sound like an obstacle rather than the point, it will be a long two years.

Not a degree

A fashion school qualification is welcome and is not required. Two of the bench came through neither.

To apply

Write in September.

Send a letter — an actual letter of a few paragraphs — with photographs of two things you have made. No CV template, no cover letter formula. Mark the subject line “Apprenticeship”.

We answer everyone, including the people we cannot take. Applications outside September are kept and read the following autumn.
